My Presidential Vision for Togo: A New Republic Rooted in Justice and Youth Empowerment

My Presidential Vision for Togo: A New Republic Rooted in Justice and Youth Empowerment
(Published: February 2025) by Komlan Eyram Mensah Dossou

For decades, Togo has been governed by the same family, the same fear, and the same failure.

But I believe our country is not condemned to this fate.

I am Komlan Eyram Mensah Dossou, a committed activist and a believer in a New Republic — one built on justice, truth, and youth empowerment.

If I were president of Togo, here is what I would do:

  1. Transitional Justice: Establish a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to address the abuses of the past, and to ensure impunity ends.

  2. Constitutional Reform: Return power to the people through a referendum-approved constitution with strict term limits and judicial independence.

  3. Economic Reboot: Create a sovereign entrepreneurship fund for youth innovation and rural development. Jobs and dignity go hand-in-hand.

  4. Security Sector Reform: Rebuild the military and police to serve, not to suppress. Public trust must replace fear.

  5. Diaspora Integration: Offer dual citizenship and government inclusion for Togolese abroad who wish to return and contribute.

  6. Freedom of Expression: Reopen the media landscape, release political prisoners, and protect journalists.

Our youth are not lazy. They are blocked. Our nation is not broken. It is betrayed. But we can heal it — not with revenge, but with vision, courage, and unity.

My candidacy is not about power. It is about purpose. And my purpose is Togo.

  3. Why don't you come back to togo and see what we can do to you. You'll be going to the presidency in a coffin. That's if you are even able to make it that far? Who is backing you anyway?

  5. You go ahead and run for this presidency then see what happens to you and your family.
