From Activist to Candidate: Why I, Komlan Eyram Mensah Dossou, Should Be President of Togo

(Published: July 2021) - By Komlan Eyram Mensah Dossou

For decades, Togo has been led by men who prioritize personal power over national progress. But the time has come for a new kind of leadership — one rooted in empathy, education, vision, and accountability.

That is why I, Komlan Eyram Mensah Dossou, declare that I am ready to serve my country — not just as an activist, but as a presidential candidate.

I do not seek power for its own sake. I seek it to restore dignity to a people who have lived too long in fear and silence.

I was not born into wealth or privilege. I grew up witnessing corruption, injustice, and inequality. But I chose not to accept it as normal.

I chose to fight, to speak, and to build. Through my professional work, social impact projects, and education initiatives — many of which are documented through my global efforts on stevendossou.com — I have shown that leadership is not about control, but service.

My vision for Togo includes:

  • Free and fair elections with electronic transparency.

  • Immediate demilitarization of civilian governance.

  • Full reform of the judicial and police systems.

  • Massive youth employment through tech and agriculture.

  • World-class education reforms and digital literacy for all.

  • A Diaspora Strategy to bring back Togolese minds and wealth.

Most importantly, I offer hope. A genuine belief that Togo can rise — not in 20 years, but now.

The old guard says, “He is too young.” I say, we are too old to still be oppressed.

To my fellow Togolese: imagine a future where your children are not forced to flee for opportunity. Imagine a government that listens. Imagine walking proudly under a flag that represents you.

This is what I offer. Not perfection, but purpose.

I, Komlan Eyram Mensah Dossou, am not waiting for permission. I’m stepping forward for the people of Togo.
